A potentially dangerous mistake

A homeowner contacted me because, despite a significant investment in green technology, their electricity bills remained stubbornly high. I had engaged with them on social media and they said "you just seemed to be talking more sense than anyone else that I have seen talking" which was nice to hear, but I didn't expect what came next.
As I worked through the paperwork, I discovered something I'd never come across before: two solar arrays and two completely separate battery systems.
After some research, I started to wonder whether the two battery systems could be working against each other. I suggested the installation should be checked by a suitably qualified engineer.
They visited and immediately disconnected the second battery. A few days later, the client forwarded the engineer's report: "In our opinion it should not have been installed just by clipping another CT on the same incoming tail and hoping it works. It may work sometimes, but that does not mean it is correctly designed"
It's quite likely that this is why their bills remained high.
One of the key principles behind Electrify My Home is working with trusted, experienced installers with the expectation that this kind of mistake is avoided.
This case is a reminder that the quality of the design and installation is every bit as important as the equipment itself.
